Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and solution-oriented Billing Phone Specialist to support our billing operations by handling patient and insurance-related inquiries over the phone.
This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, empathy, and problem-solving abilities, who can assist clients with billing concerns while maintaining a positive and supportive experience. The specialist will act as a key point of contact to resolve billing issues, clarify concerns, and ensure client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle inbound and outbound calls related to billing inquiries from patients and insurance providers
- Provide clear and empathetic communication regarding billing, charges, and payment options
- Assist patients in understanding invoices, insurance coverage, copays, and outstanding balances
- Resolve billing concerns efficiently, ensuring a positive client experience
- Follow up on pending billing issues, claims, and payment-related concerns
- Coordinate with the billing team to address discrepancies or complex cases
- Support patients in setting up payment plans when needed
- Document all interactions accurately in the system
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in line with HIPAA guidelines
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or higher
- 1+ year of experience in customer service, call center, or billing support roles
- Strong verbal communication skills with a focus on empathy and active listening
- Ability to handle sensitive conversations with professionalism and care
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Basic understanding of medical billing or willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, medical billing, or insurance-related roles
- Familiarity with U.S. healthcare billing concepts (copays, deductibles, claims)
- Experience handling high-volume calls
- Bilingual (English required; Spanish preferred)
