About the Role:
VA WORKS LLC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Loan Officer Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our loan officers through various administrative and customer service tasks. We take pride in providing exceptional service to our clients and helping them navigate the loan process with ease. As a Loan Officer Assistant, your responsibilities will include gathering and preparing necessary documentation, maintaining communication with clients, and ensuring that all information is accurately entered into our loan processing system. You will be instrumental in streamlining operations and enhancing the efficiency of the loan application process. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a strong understanding of the mortgage industry.
Responsibilities:
- Managing active loan files from application through closing Collecting and organizing borrower documents (pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, ID, etc.) Submitting files to lenders and following up on conditions Communicating with borrowers, Realtors, and title companies via email and phone Updating the LOS (Arive or similar) with file status and notes Coordinating with processors/internal team and underwriters on outstanding items Sending daily file status updates to the team lead Keeping track of deadlines and rate lock expirations
Bonus Points (Preferred, Not Required):
- Prior experience in U.S. mortgage — minimum 1 year as LOA, processor, or similar role
- Familiarity with conventional, FHA, and non-QM loan products
- Strong written and verbal English communication
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently
- Experience with Encompass, BytePro, or similar LOS preferred
