Position Summary
The FP&A Analyst is responsible for financial planning and analysis within the agricultural business. This position develops and manages budgets, forecasts, and other long-term financial plans. The FP&A Analyst partners with internal teams to help translate various factors into actionable financial insights. This position analyzes financial performance against established plans, prepares variance explanations, and builds models that evaluate performance. Through data-driven insights, the FP&A Analyst enables leadership to improve operational efficiency, manage risk, and drive sustainable profitability.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop annual budgets and forecasts
- Analyze actuals vs forecasts and investigate variances
- Create financial models, variability, weather events, input costs, etc.
- Develop and maintain a business performance reporting package that includes KPIs and leading indicator metrics that extend beyond financial reporting
- Assist with CapEx analysis for land, equipment, technology, investments, etc.
- Provide recommendations to leadership that improve operational efficiency
- Partner with Field Operations to model financial scenarios and drive business decisions
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field required; CPA, FPAC, or related certification a plus
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role required; manufacturing or agricultural industry experience preferred
- Self-starter with an analytical mindset and ability to work in a highly variable environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power BI, etc.) required
- Experience with ERP system required; Sage experience preferred
- Able to travel overnight as needed (est. 20-30%)
