Job Summary
The Vice President, Accounting will lead the Accounting department, including Accounts Payable and Payroll (if ever moved), and oversee all aspects of accounting policies and methods, GAAP compliance, audit success and monthly reporting. This individual will report directly to the CFO and serve as a vital member of the leadership team, will be a valued business partner to executives, facility CEOs and other corporate department leaders by providing actionable data and analysis to make wise business decisions. This position will oversee general ledger integrity, management of accounting reserves, financial reporting, internal controls, accounts payable and payroll functions and some aspects of Treasury management such as reconciling cash collections and all bank accounts. The successful candidate will have a bias for action, will anticipate “next level” questions related to interim project status reports, and will be proactive in initiating, leading and taking ownership of persistent issues that need addressed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, reserves and/or allowances, payables, payroll, financial reporting, and board reporting in tandem with FP&A and Finance Analytics.
- Analyzing company's financial results with respect to costs, vendor management and spend, profitability, trend reporting, and the integrity of accruals. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
- Will lead the team toward a routine, timely and accurate month end close process, including setting expectations of all team members; establishing a known, communicated, and followed month end close calendar; and collaborating within the finance and accounting department to follow it.
- Serve as a valued member of the leadership team.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Oversee all aspects of annual audit success, including early sampling of material items to facilitate timely completion.
- Provide data and analysis for ad hoc requests from business partners.
- Develop and lead team of accounting and finance professionals.
- Regular and consistent attendance is expected.

Education/ Experience
- Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance or MBA
- CPA or CMA preferred
- 12+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.
- Excellent managerial skills and ability to evaluate the work of others
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Working knowledge of organization’s applicable financial practices and procedures, as well as a thorough understanding of state and federal rules and regulations
- Proficient with accounting software and standard office and accounting equipment
