Accounting Controller, Inc. is a well-established and growing Bookkeeping & Consulting Practice seeking a Client Accounting professional with a senior profile. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting expertise who can manage client relationships, oversee full-cycle accounting processes, and ensure excellence in service delivery.

You will work closely with the Owner of the company, with significant opportunities for professional growth. This is a consultant-to-hire position with flexible working hours.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of clients, ensuring strong communication, service quality, and client satisfaction.
- Oversee end-to-end accounting operations for multiple clients, including general ledger management, monthly closings, and financial reporting.
- Perform advanced QuickBooks maintenance and review, including complex journal entries, cleanup projects, and financial analysis.
- Review and supervise bank reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, and preparation of accurate financial statements.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring internal control adherence and efficient workflow.
- Oversee payroll processing and review payroll tax filings, ensuring multi-state compliance and timely submissions.
- Prepare and review sales tax filings, year-end reporting (1099s, W-2s, W-3s), and related federal and state filings.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements across client workflows and internal operations.
- Support client onboarding, implementation of best practices, and service optimization in collaboration with the Owner.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members when needed.
Key Skills & Attributes- Strong expertise in QuickBooks Online and Desktop (experience with Xero or Sage is a plus).
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Strong experience managing AP/AR functions and general ledger oversight.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll principles, multi-state payroll requirements, and tax filings (SUTA, FUTA, DOR, 940, 941, 1099s, W-2, W-3).
- Familiarity with federal and state tax regulations.
- High proficiency with Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proactive, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced remote environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or client accounting services.
- 3–5+ years of experience using QuickBooks (both Desktop and Online).
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients or leading accounting processes for multiple entities.
- Payroll and multi-state sales tax experience required.
- Knowledge of Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, and 1040 preferred.
- Prior experience in a bookkeeping firm, CPA firm, or Client Accounting Services environment is highly preferred.
