Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fire Fighting Technician to join our team and ensure the safety and protection of facilities through expert installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire suppression and alarm systems. Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and system design documents to accurately install and service fire suppression and alarm systems.
- Perform construction inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, including NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, sensors, and related low-voltage electrical components using hand tools and power tools.
- Conduct field service visits for system testing, repairs, upgrades, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software for system layout planning and modifications as needed.
- Inspect construction sites for compliance with specifications; coordinate with contractors on system integration during new builds or renovations.
- Engage in sales activities related to fire alarm systems or fire sprinkler fitting by providing technical expertise during client consultations.
- Identify system issues through reading schematics and electrical diagrams; replace or repair faulty components such as sensors or control panels.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all service activities, inspections, repairs, and system modifications for record accuracy.
- Collaborate with team members on complex projects involving system design adjustments or upgrades.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fire alarm or fire sprinkler fitting with a strong mechanical knowledge base.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and system design principles.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software for layout planning; familiarity with construction inspection processes is a plus.
- Electrical experience including low-voltage wiring, sensors installation, NEC compliance knowledge, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools necessary for installation and maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems including sensors, control panels, alarms, and related components; experience in alarm system sales is advantageous.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical diagrams for troubleshooting purposes.
- Strong understanding of construction practices related to fire protection systems; previous field service experience preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to work independently or as part of a team in diverse environments.
- Valid certifications relevant to fire protection systems; ongoing professional development encouraged.
