HomeRiver Group is a top tier property management firm with over 25,000 units under management. The
Senior Accountant reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and is responsible for leading the
preparation of corporate financial statements for assigned business segments within the company. They
will take ownership of their assigned markets to ensure the monthly income statements and balance
sheets are accurate.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements for assigned business segments
- Prepare revenue and expense accrual journal entries and amortization of prepaids
- Review income statement for variance analysis and collaborate with operations team to determine underlying factors
- Reconcile cash accounts with bank statements using BlackLine
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts in BlackLine and research differences
- Research and resolve complex balance sheet reconciliation variances
- Prepare sales tax returns
- Assist with the annual external audit
- Assist with conversion of future acquisitions to company-wide general ledger system
- Complete special projects and perform ad hoc financial analysis as needed
Education
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years in accounting, including use of corporate general ledger systems
- Experience reviewing balance sheets and income statements
- Public Accounting experience preferred
Knowledge And Skills
- Ability to troubleshoot, identify the root cause of, and develop and implement effective solutions to problems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter attitude and ability to prioritize, exercise judgment, and take ownership of their financial statements
- Ability to manage numerous projects/deadlines and prioritize workload accordingly
- Advanced Excel skills including XLOOKUP and pivot tables
