Cardiology Associates of Altoona, L.L.P. is seeking a Data Entry Specialist to join our team. The Data Entry Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of patient data across multiple systems. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in data management, with experience working in a healthcare setting. The Data Entry Specialist will be responsible for entering, verifying, and maintaining patient records, supporting the billing and clinical teams, and ensuring compliance with healthcare data standards.
- Data Entry & Accuracy: Accurately enter and update patient information, including demographic details, medical history, diagnostic test results, treatments, and appointments, into the electronic health record (EHR) system and other related databases.
- Data Verification: Review and verify the accuracy of entered data by cross-checking medical records, billing information, and patient details, ensuring consistency and completeness.
- Records Management: Assist in managing both electronic and paper-based medical records, ensuring that all patient files are complete, properly organized, and stored securely in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
- Billing and Coding Support: Input billing and insurance information accurately into the system, ensuring compliance with coding standards and assisting the billing department with data verification and claims processing.
- Audit & Data Quality Assurance: Participate in periodic data audits to identify discrepancies or inaccuracies, and work to correct or update any missing or incorrect data. Maintain a high standard of data integrity.
- Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with clinical staff, billing specialists, and administrative teams to ensure seamless data flow across all departments, helping to facilitate smooth daily operations.
- Reporting: Generate various reports, summaries, and data sets for internal use, quality control, or regulatory purposes as requested by management or medical staff.
- Confidentiality & Compliance: Ensure that all patient data is handled with the utmost confidentiality and in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and company policies. Maintain secure and compliant data storage practices.
- General Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance as needed, including handling incoming inquiries, filing documents, and assisting with other office duties.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or certification in health information technology, data management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in data entry or administrative support in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) or medical practice management software is strongly preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially when handling large volumes of data.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
