We are a bit different. So . . .
Let's be honest with each other from the jump. This role starts commission only. We know ... and we are not hiding it in paragraph seven under "compensation details." It's real, but also only temporary. For the right person, it's actually a feature (much bigger bag potential)—not a bug. This will reduce interested candidates by 80%. That’s ok. On the flip-side, the company will ultimately be owned by the team members as a group. More on that in a second.
Here is the actual formula behind that bag: Our product has elite market fit, resulting in expected closing ratios higher than 40%. We aggressively reward volume:
- Tiered Setup Fees: You get 25% on your 1st and 2nd sale, 35% on sales 3 and 4, and a massive 50% on sales 5 and beyond. (Tiers reset annually).
- Recurring Income Schedule: You receive a 25% payout of the recurring revenue at Month 2, Month 6, and Month 14.
- The Yearly Math: Close just 1 sale a week, and your projected year-one earnings are $66,510. Average 2 sales a week, and that jumps to $133,020. No cap on no cap on income.

What We DON’T Do We don't sell ice to Eskimos. Not because we couldn’t, but that would make you a d-baggy crook, and we do not like those kind of bags. What would we sell to Eskimos? Things to keep you warm—duh—and a Smarter Website if they own a business. Duh!
Our job is to listen, ask pertinent questions, then listen again until we understand what's blocking a business owner from their top-line and bottom-line goals, and figure out if we're genuinely the solution. Many times we are. But sometimes we're not. And we’re okay with that—and our clients remember and appreciate it.
No manipulation. No manufactured urgency. No "always be closing" energy. If that's your style, no shade, just not our lane. We believe you can be a nice killer closer. Kindness does not equal the NY Jets.
What the role actually looks like:
- Identifying and reaching out to small business owners via phone and in-person.
- Having real conversations (not pitches—conversations) about their growth challenges.
- Presenting ZM+t solutions where there's a genuine fit.
- Building a local pipeline in Seattle or Austin (or both, you overachiever).
- Reporting back to the team, iterating, and improving.
You will hear "no." A lot. You will shake it off, learn from it, and keep going. That's the job. Every "no" is one step closer to a "yes" and blah blah blah. You know the corporate BS drill. Annoying, but still absolutely true.
Probationary period: 30–90 days, commission-only. The goals are real and achievable—we're not setting you up to fail. This period exists so you can prove yourself to yourself as much as to us. Hit the benchmark of 12 to 15 sales, and you’ll have the option to transition into a full W2 role with a base + bonus and retirement plan.
To put that into perspective: Because your setup commission scales to 50% after your fourth sale, averaging 3 sales a week means you hit your 12-sale benchmark in one month while putting $12,000 in your pocket. But importantly, from day one you will always have a seat at the table and will be listened to. Because that’s what normal humans do. We don't want contractors forever. We want people who grow with us. You will help us shape our culture as a team.
YOU MIGHT BE OUR PERSON IF:
- You genuinely enjoy talking to people and solving problems—like, actually enjoy it.
- You can handle rejection without it wrecking your day.
- You’re resourceful and self-directed.
- You’re honest, even when it's inconvenient.
- You have some sales or outreach experience (preferred, not required).
- You know Seattle or Austin, or you're hungry to learn them fast.
- You love music (optional).
YOU'RE PROBABLY NOT OUR PERSON IF:
- You need a guarantee before you'll put in effort.
- Your strategy is to talk until someone gives in.
- Accountability is someone else's problem.
- You think humility is for people without talent.
We mean that without malice. Seriously. Just different fits for different places. But if you are a great fit, as mentioned, the company will become 100% owned by the team members via ESOP and bonuses. That way, if we are fortunate enough to have an exit, everyone can benefit! A pipe dream, maybe. But a tangible goal to pursue nevertheless. This goal will always be intact.
