We are seeking a highly skilled ServiceNow CMDB Specialist for a 6-month contract role. This position will focus on managing, maintaining, and optimizing the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB & CSDM, along with a solid understanding of networking, operating systems, and scripting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and reliable configuration data to support business operations.
- Implement, configure, and maintain the ServiceNow CMDB
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with standards
- Develop and enforce CMDB policies, business rules, and procedures
- Perform regular audits and data reconciliation
- Configure discovery schedules, probes, and sensors
- Manage MID Servers and credentials
- Develop and maintain discovery patterns
- Identify and optimize data sources for discovery
- Manage CI classes and define relationships
- Align CMDB structure with Common Services Data Model (CSDM)
- Develop automation to clean up stale data and relationships
- Apply knowledge of:
- Network fundamentals (IP, ports, protocols, firewalls)
- Windows/Linux environments
- DNS, DHCP, Active Directory
- Manage service accounts and secure system access
- Use scripting (PowerShell, JavaScript, or Python) to:
- Automate workflows
- Improve CMDB functionality
- Partner with IT teams, stakeholders, and vendors
- Provide training on CMDB best practices
- Build dashboards and reports for CMDB insights
- Monitor CMDB health and recommend improvements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB
- Experience with ITSM processes:
- Incident, Problem, Change, Asset Management
- Strong experience with:
- ServiceNow Discovery
- Service Mapping
- Integrations
- ServiceNow CMDB & CSDM expertise
- Discovery configuration (probes, sensors, MID Servers)
- Network fundamentals (IP, protocols, firewalls, ports)
- Windows/Linux administration
- Scripting (PowerShell, JavaScript, Python)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) – Required
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Data Foundations (Preferred)
- Experience with ITIL frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud and hybrid environments
- Knowledge of data governance and compliance
- Experience with tools like:
- ManageEngine OpManager
- Microsoft SCCM
- Other data integration platforms
