Duties
- Install, test, and commission fire alarm systems in new construction and retrofit projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, system design documents, and CAD drawings to accurately implement system layouts.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on fire alarm panels, sensors, detectors, and associated low voltage electrical components.
- Troubleshoot system issues using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment; identify faults in wiring or components and execute effective repairs.
- Perform construction inspections to verify proper installation practices for fire alarm wiring, sensors, and control panels.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate system integration with other building systems such as sprinklers or mechanical controls.
- Maintain detailed service records, update system schematics, and prepare reports documenting work performed.
- Provide field service support by responding promptly to emergency calls or system failures to restore full operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with fire alarm systems, including installation, service technician roles, or related electrical experience.
- Strong knowledge of low voltage wiring practices, NEC (National Electrical Code) standards, and electrical safety protocols.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings accurately; familiarity with system design principles is highly desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools and power tools for installation and repair tasks.
- Knowledge of sensors, alarms, fire sprinkler fitting basics, and fire alarm sales processes is a plus.
- Construction inspection experience ensuring adherence to safety standards and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting complex systems.
