About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Trade Marketing Manager to lead and scale the commerce trade strategy for Afterpay merchants and products. This role blends strategy, storytelling, and execution to craft impactful content that enhances merchant visibility, drives product adoption, and deepens customer engagement across Afterpay’s owned and paid channels.
You’ll act as the central link between Partner Marketing, CRM, Social, and Ads/Affiliate teams, ensuring that every piece of content—from in-app features to major trade campaigns—reflects the brand’s story and aligns with business goals.
If you’re a strategic, creative marketer passionate about commerce storytelling and collaboration, this is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Marketing & Merchant Promotions
- Lead and support trade marketing initiatives tied to seasonal and cultural moments (e.g., Cyber Week, Holiday, Back-to-School).
- Build and manage monthly content calendars aligned with business priorities, trends, and merchant partnerships.
- Develop campaign strategy briefs and manage end-to-end creative processes — from concept and reviews to merchant approvals and launch QA.
- Collaborate with CRM and Partner Marketing to integrate promotional offers and merchant opportunities.
- Use performance data to optimize storytelling and improve future campaign outcomes.
In-App & Editorial Content
- Oversee editorial content creation for the Afterpay app, crafting stories that drive discovery and engagement.
- Independently design and publish content using Figma and Builder tools.
- Write and edit copy to ensure accuracy, brand consistency, and audience engagement.
- Validate affiliate links, store codes, and placement tags across all content.
- Partner with the Ads/Affiliate team to align editorial strategy with sponsorship and partnership initiatives.
Campaign & Inventory Management
- Manage campaign booking, tracking, and reporting across CRM, Social, Partner Marketing, and Ads/Affiliate channels.
- Maintain visibility into all active and upcoming campaigns via the Afterpay content inventory tracker.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure optimal content placement and value.
- Support post-campaign reporting and insight generation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Marketing, CRM, Creative, and Partner Sales teams to ensure message alignment and execution consistency.
- Work closely with Brand and Creative to deliver customer-centric campaigns that bring the brand story to life.
- Coordinate with Finance, Legal, and Compliance to maintain brand integrity and adhere to regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Integrated, Product, Partner, or Content Marketing, ideally within e-commerce, fintech, or retail.
- Proven track record developing multi-channel content strategies that drive measurable engagement and conversions.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills with experience aligning diverse teams.
- Expertise in content creation, campaign management, and editorial execution, including managing creative partners.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to balance strategic and tactical workstreams.
- Analytical mindset — able to interpret data and translate insights into actionable improvements.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Proficient with tools such as Figma, Builder, Asana (or similar workflow platforms).
- Passion for commerce, storytelling, and building meaningful customer experiences that connect brands and merchants.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience considered.
