Lola Blankets is a fast-scaling brand creating the most beloved blankets in the world. We’re looking for a strategic and people-first operator to build and expand the foundation for a world-class employee experience. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role will lead People Operations at Lola—owning organizational design, recruiting, career development, and culture. Core Responsibilities:
1. People Strategy & Organizational Design
- Partner with leadership to design and evolve Lola’s org structure as we scale across teams, functions, and levels.
- Build and maintain our leveling guides, career path frameworks, and compensation philosophy–helping every employee understand their growth path.
- Partner with Finance on workforce planning, forecasting, and headcount management.
2. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Lead full-cycle recruiting–from job description creation to candidate experience, coordination, interview training, and selection frameworks.
- Manage external recruiting partners as needed to meet business demands.
- Design onboarding experiences that accelerate ramp-up, build connection, and reinforce culture from day one.
- Support ongoing hiring and engagement strategies for seasonal and contingent staff, ensuring a consistent, positive experience through all strategies of the employment lifecycle.
3. Employee Relations & Culture
- Act as a trusted partner and advisor to employees and managers, offering guidance on performance, communication, and workplace dynamics.
- Approach employee relations issues proactively, balancing empathy with clarity and fairness.
- Champion a high-performing workplace aligned with Lola’s values.
- Design and execute team-building rituals, offsites, and moments that strengthen community and connection.
4. Performance & Development
- Own company-wide performance management systems, including goal setting, bi-annual reviews, and feedback processes.
- Develop clear growth and learning frameworks for employees and managers, including training programs and L&D resources.
- Equip leaders to coach effectively, navigate change, and develop high-performing teams.
5. People Operations & Systems
- Manage and continuously improve HR systems, including payroll, benefits, and compliance.
- Build scalable documentation, tools, and infrastructure that evolve with the company.
- Maintain compliance with employment law across multiple states and adapt to seasonal fluctuations in workforce size.
- Ensure processes are efficient, human-centered,, and support a remote-friendly, high-growth, and occasionally high-intensity environment.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in People Ops or HR, with at least 3 years in a fast-growing startup (ideally within DTC, retail, or consumer goods).
- Proven success designing and scaling org structures, recruiting systems, and performance programs from the ground up.
- Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters with discretion, empathy, and consistency.
- Strong ability to operate calmly and clearly through changing priorities, and high-volume periods.
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- High EQ and low ego—you lead with empathy and drive with clarity.
- Deep understanding of modern HR practices, tools, and employee experience design.
- Strong preference: candidates located in SLC or NYC near one of Lola's two offices
