The Medical Receptionist plays a key role in ensuring smooth communication between external
entities and internal staff. This position is responsible for answering incoming calls, assigning
messages and tasks to appropriate team members, and managing incoming and outgoing
faxes. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the
ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
● Answer high volume of incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner
● Triage calls and assign messages or tasks to appropriate medical or administrative staff
● Manage fax inbox: review, distribute, and file incoming faxes; send outgoing faxes as
needed.
● Document all communications accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
● Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Experience
● High school diploma or equivalent required
● Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
● Proficient in using phone systems, e-fax, and EMR systems
● Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
● Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
