Job Title: Senior Accounting Manager
What You’ll Be Doing:
As our Senior Accounting Manager, you will be a key partner to the CFO and oversee the full spectrum of accounting operations—from revenue to net income. This is a highly cross-functional role, responsible not only for closing the books accurately and timely but also for laying the groundwork for our transition to GAAP-compliant financials and building scalable financial processes as we grow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy across all financial statements from revenue to net income.
- Maintain and oversee the chart of accounts; ensure accurate classification of COGS and operating expenses.
- Manage inventory accounting, including reconciliation, COGS classification, and controls.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial reports for executive management, highlighting key insights.
- Transition financial statements from cash to accrual and support the company's evolution toward GAAP-compliant accounting.
- Oversee and streamline invoicing, accounts payable, and weekly bookkeeping processes.
- Coordinate vendor onboarding and ensure vendor management procedures are compliant and efficient.
- Supervise and support sales tax compliance, income tax filings, 1099/1042/Franchise tax reporting, and liaise with external tax advisors.
- Manage accounting for our U.S. entity and its foreign subsidiary, ensuring appropriate consolidation for financial reporting.
- Assist in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Implement and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support and prepare for periodic financial reviews and audits.
- Mentor and potentially grow a small accounting team as the company scales.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Deep understanding of inventory and COGS accounting, ideally in consumer goods or retail.
- Proven experience supporting the full accounting cycle and transitioning from cash to accrual accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Experience managing accounting for companies with foreign subsidiaries and performing financial consolidations.
- Hands-on experience managing sales tax processes across multiple states.
- Advanced Excel skills and fluency in accounting systems (Xero, NetSuite, or similar ERP preferred).
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
Salary $140,000-$150,000
