Job Overview
We are seeking an outstanding Accounting Staff member to join our dedicated team in a fully remote capacity. If you are an organized and detail-oriented accounting professional with a commitment to supporting nonprofit organizations, this position offers an exciting opportunity for you to contribute significantly to our financial operations. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Finance & HR and be instrumental in facilitating seamless financial processes while also assisting with human resources tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounts payable processes, including vendor management and timely payment processing.
- Ensure accurate crediting of scholarship payments to student accounts and coordinate with educational institutions to resolve any issues.
- Manage accounts receivable functions such as invoicing and collection tracking to secure prompt payments.
- Input incoming payments into our accounting system (Intacct).
- Generate donor tax acknowledgment letters and adhere to relevant tax compliance regulations.
- Perform reconciliations of bank and credit card statements to uphold financial accuracy.
- Process staff expense reports, handle reimbursements, and maintain proper documentation of credit card transactions.
- Administer the control and distribution of in-kind donations and inventory.
- Provide additional support for various financial and HR functions as directed by leadership.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting software, particularly Sage Intacct, is highly desirable.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities to interact professionally with colleagues and external partners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (G-Suite).
- Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of juggling multiple priorities efficiently.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all financial dealings.
- Solid bookkeeping and financial management expertise.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while managing sensitive information.
- Self-driven and proactive with the capability to work independently in a remote setting.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience is essential.
- Familiarity with nonprofit accounting practices is advantageous, though not mandatory.
