Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for providing accounting support to the Corporate Finance department. This position will be responsible for recording daily and monthly transactional activity while adhering to GAAP and the company accounting policies, preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining general ledgers and performing other accounting duties as assigned. This position reports to the Accounting Managers, or another senior management personnel that the CFO of the Company may designate.
This position is located in Irvine, California, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to the Irvine office location. Employees residing within a 50-mile radius of our Irvine office are required to work on-site at our Irvine office five days per week (Monday through Friday). However, employees residing beyond the 50-mile radius may be offered an option to work remotely five days per week. Working hours are typically from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST, with a 1-hour lunch break.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly closing journal entries and maintain reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Perform analyses on specific general ledger accounts and budget-to-actual reports
- Assist in gathering and compiling information for annual and quarterly budgets and reforecasts
- Compile data and prepare schedules required for audits and tax filings
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
- Take initiative in reviewing accounts and financial records to identify discrepancies, errors, and slow-moving assets or liabilities
- Maintain fixed asset records and schedules
- Perform weekly bank reconciliations
- Reconcile intercompany transactions
- Ensure accurate and complete accounting for lease contracts
- Lead month-end close procedures for entities operating solar plants
- Process purchase orders based on approved requisitions
- Process AP and AR invoices and journal entries
- Review and approve AP and AR invoices and journal entries prepared by staff accountants
- Prepare checks and wire transfers for weekly and off-cycle payments
- Assist in gathering and compiling information for requests from financial institutions (e.g. banks)
- Collaborate with team members and across departments to support both departmental and company-wide goals and objectives
- Suggest ways to improve efficiency and streamline processes
- Take initiative to research complex accounting issues and propose solutions for management review
- Stay up to date on accounting trends by seeking and participating in educational opportunities
- Perform other duties and special projects as requested by management
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, highly preferred;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or another business-related field;
- Minimum of 5-years’ experience in accounting or a related field;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and explain complex information clearly and with the ability to question and validate information with professional skepticism;
- Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively;
- Strong organizational skills and a commitment to following processes meticulously;
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving and dynamic environment;
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook;
- Hands-on experience in professional accounting experience (including AR/AP invoice process, bookkeeping, and payment process), preferred;
- Experience in ERP (SAP B1 or SAP S/4 HANA Cloud), preferred;
- Previous experience working in a multinational company, preferred
- Bilingual in Korean and English, preferred but not required
