The Senior Manager of Accounting will oversee the company’s wholesale accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective internal controls. This role requires a hands-on leader with extensive experience in accounting, financial analysis, and team management. The Senior Manager will collaborate with the financial team and other departments to drive financial performance and support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and efficient accounting operations.
- Oversee the wholesale general ledger, including reconciliation of accounts and resolution of discrepancies.
- Oversee the monthly closing process, including the assessment of processes and internal controls and identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices in accounting procedures.
- Accounting management of wholesale and retail Inventory. Prepare monthly reconciliations, activity reports and financial analysis of gross margins.
- Manage the sales tax filing process, working with third party assistance, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions and returns.
- Lead projects to enhance financial systems, reporting tools, and overall efficiency.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist with the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage external audits and internal reviews, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
- Work with the Financial Planning and Analysis team in reviewing and understanding monthly results.
- Prepare financial reporting and analysis requests on an ad hoc basis.
Compliance and Controls:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and assess risks related to accounting and financial reporting, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring the company’s practices are up-to-date.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a management or supervisory role.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Working Conditions:
