Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team at a leading venture capital firm. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the firm's financial strategy. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain financial statements in accordance with GAAP for both internal and external reporting.
- Oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform variance analysis on key financial metrics.
- Assist with the preparation of tax filings for venture capital funds and portfolio companies.
- Support the preparation of financial reports for investors, including performance tracking and capital call distributions.
- Review and analyze financial data, identifying trends and variances, and providing actionable insights.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure successful audits and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in managing fund allocations and cash flow management for portfolio companies.
- Ensure compliance with venture capital fund agreements and industry-specific regulations.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff and assist with their professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a venture capital, private equity, or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
- Experience with venture capital fund accounting and tax filings is a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, portfolio companies, and external stakeholders.
