Bright Balance Accounting provides accounting and finance services to middle market companies who are looking to augment or outsource their accounting function, lower their cost, or gain increased flexibility from exceptionally bright resources who can add value to their business. The firm has US and offshore teams who collaborate to provide transaction processing, general accounting, financial planning / analysis, and CFO advisory services. Clients range across all industries and are both family owned and private equity-backed, ranging from $20m to $200m in revenue. This boutique firm was founded by practitioners (not consultants) who have years of experience in corporate accounting and finance, and enjoy delivering and adding value to clients.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Bright Balance Accounting needs a full-time FP&A Advisor who will collaborate with the current team on client engagements and provide support on a variety of accounting and finance activities. This role offers a high level of flexibility to rotate across areas of responsibility and gain diverse exposure to a broad range of accounting and finance functions, and industries. It will also allow a high degree of control of where, when, and how work is done, with emphasis on timeliness, accuracy of delivery of services to the client and collaboration with the team.
This is a unique opportunity to learn by working alongside other consultants who have years of experience in middle management and CFO-level corporate accounting and finance roles. This role also offers significant growth potential within the firm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Client and engagement management:
- Interface with client: CFO / CEO / Controller
- Identify solutions to client issues, manage deliverables and client deadlines
- Collaborate with other consultants within the firm on client deliverables – develop and train other staff (on and offshore)
FP&A Services:
- Support and advise either the Bright Balance consultants or directly support client leadership with ad hoc analysis and decision making
- Build from scratch 3 statement models in support of business planning and valuation
- Lead budgeting processes across a variety of teams and industries
- Develop and regularly update rolling forecasts of 3 statement models
- Build and support 13 week cash flow modeling
- Analyze and communicate variance results to provide insights on business performance
- Establish and monitor performance benchmarks and KPIs
SKILLS/BACKGROUND NEEDED:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or similar, CPA or CMA a plus
- A minimum of 3 years of accounting or finance experience is preferred, preferably within a company at least $50m in revenue
- Consulting or public accounting experience strong plus but not required
- Experience in the following industries is preferred but not required: Real Estate, Software Tech, Insurance, or Manufacturing
- Excellent technical (Excel) and analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and high confidence; ability to interact with various levels and functions within the firm and clients
- Entrepreneurial mindset, hands-on, action-oriented and maintains a high level of initiative, and excited to learn and develop
- Professional approach to servicing clients, meeting deadlines, and providing excellence on deliverables.
