The Biomedical Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, recertification, and repair of Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) devices. This role will own and manage the company’s Biomedical Service Department, ensuring all equipment is tested, serviced, and compliant before distribution.
Key Responsibilities
Device Recertification
- Perform inspection, functional testing, and recertification of Advanced Life Support devices, including:
- Stryker LIFEPAK 15
- ZOLL X-Series
- Ensure all devices meet manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and regulatory compliance prior to resale or deployment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of testing, calibration, and certification records.
Device Service & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ALS monitors/defibrillators and AED units.
- Replace defective components, perform preventative maintenance, and conduct calibration.
- Verify device functionality through standardized testing protocols.
AED Testing & Quality Assurance
- Perform incoming inspection, testing, and verification of all AED units received for wholesale distribution.
- Ensure devices are fully operational and compliant with safety and performance standards.
- Maintain testing logs and device history records.
Department Ownership
- Lead and manage the Biomedical Service Department, including:
- Establishing testing procedures and quality control standards
- Managing service workflow and device tracking
- Maintaining service tools, testing equipment, and calibration schedules
- Develop and improve processes for device refurbishment, certification, and inventory readiness.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain service records, calibration documentation, and regulatory compliance logs.
- Ensure all work aligns with manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and internal quality procedures.
- Support audits or regulatory reviews related to device servicing and certification.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience servicing medical devices, preferably defibrillators, monitors, or AEDs.
- Experience with Stryker LIFEPAK or ZOLL defibrillator platforms strongly preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and electronic diagnostic skills.
- Familiarity with medical device regulatory and documentation requirements.
Work Environment
- Work performed in a technical service or warehouse environment.
- Frequent handling and testing of medical equipment and diagnostic tools.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to be stationery and work on a computer for up to 8 hours at a time.
- Ability to stand, move, squat, reach and climb for up to 8 hours at a time on occasion.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (30 lbs occasionally, rarely up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in a climate-controlled warehouse environment.
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
