About Redwood
Redwood Holding, LLC is a domestic purpose-driven investment group, owned by a global nonprofit, working to promote equitable access to healthcare. We operate as a parent company to 1–3 subsidiaries and manage an annual operating budget of approximately $5-10M.
The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Director of Finance & Accounting to own and run our accounting function across Redwood and its subsidiaries. This is a working leader role responsible for the accuracy of the books, the monthly close, and the company’s audit and tax processes - while also serving as a strategic thought partner to the President & CEO.
This is not a strategy-only role. The right candidate is comfortable working directly in QuickBooks Online (QBO), reviewing reconciliations, managing a multi-entity environment, preparing consolidated financials, tightening processes, and ensuring monthly deadlines are met.
What You’ll Do
Accounting & Close
- Own the general ledger and financial integrity across the parent company and 1–3 subsidiaries in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
- Run the monthly and quarterly close end-to-end, including accruals, reconciliations, reviews, and adjustments
- Prepare timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including consolidated financials
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Oversee and/or perform core accounting functions (AP, AR, payroll, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations)
- Ensure consistent, clean books across all entities
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Own the annual audit process end-to-end, managing all audit requests and deliverables and serving as the primary point of contact for auditors
- Lead and/or coordinate the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings with external advisors
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory and reporting requirements
Strategic Finance
- Partner with the President & CEO on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Build and maintain financial models and scenario analyses to support decision-making
- Track, analyze, and explain actuals vs. budget and forecast
- Evaluate financial implications of new initiatives, contracts, and growth opportunities
- Translate financial results into clear, actionable insights for leadership
Operations & Improvement
- Introduce processes and controls to improve efficiencies, reduce risk, and increase clarity and trust among all staff
- Strengthen and scale the multi-entity accounting environment in QBO
Team Management & Leadership
- Supervise and develop accounting staff and/or contractors (as applicable)
- Set priorities, review work, and ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness of all accounting deliverables
- Partner with People & Culture on hiring, performance management, and development
- Build and lead a disciplined, reliable and high-performing accounting team
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required (accounting strongly preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with significant hands-on ownership of close, financial statements, audit, and tax coordination
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and balance sheet management
- High proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Excel/Sheets; multi-entity and consolidation experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, strengthen systems & processes, and improve financial operations
- Ability to pair strong accounting execution with strategic financial thinking
- CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This is a remote, office-based role. The position requires prolonged computer use, participation in video and phone meetings, and very occasional travel (1-2x per year) to support business needs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
