Job Title: Medical Administrative Assistant
Job Description
Join a dynamic team as a Medical Administrative Assistant where you will act as a liaison between insured individuals, underwriters, general agents, and vendors. Your role is pivotal in facilitating the underwriting and new business process by ensuring all necessary requirements are obtained and processed accurately.
Responsibilities
- Review life insurance applications post-medical interview to ensure data accuracy and consistency with system records.
- Compile cases for escalation and review, ensuring all information is accurate and properly documented.
- Perform data entry tasks across various platforms, adding notes where necessary to facilitate proper processing.
- Possibly receive cross-training on the App Assist Interviewer side depending on departmental needs.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the medical industry, such as a hospital, nursing home, medical office, or life insurance.
- Proficiency in typing with a minimum speed of 40 words per minute.
- At least 1 year of experience as an administrative assistant.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic medical conditions related to personal health history.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to use dual monitors effectively, navigating through multiple screens simultaneously.
- 1 year of customer service experience, particularly over the phone, with a focus on longer, detailed calls.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a call center within the medical, healthcare, or insurance industry.
- Recent completion of medical schooling or experience as a medical office receptionist or in medical claims.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate through multiple systems beyond basic data entry.
- Excellent time management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high tolerance for repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multitasking environment.
Work Environment
The role requires working Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, with a 45-minute lunch break, totaling 38.75 working hours per week.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Frederick, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
