Observ is a construction finance platform that gives contractors, owners, and developers real-time visibility into project risk, compliance, and financial health. We help teams streamline financial workflows, ensure legal and financial compliance, and move money with confidence across multiple projects.
We’re looking for an experienced Account Bookkeeper to own our day-to-day accounting operations and help build scalable financial processes as Observ grows. This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident working independently, understands the “why” behind the numbers, and is comfortable putting structure in place where it doesn’t yet exist.
This role goes beyond basic data entry or AP/AR. You’ll be responsible for maintaining clean, accurate books, leveraging NetSuite to analyze and understand financial data, and partnering closely with leadership as we scale.
What you’ll do
- Own day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Manage and oversee AP and AR processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Perform monthly and year-end close activities with a high level of ownership
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial documentation
- Use NetSuite to analyze financial data and ensure data integrity across systems
- Support payroll, expense management, and vendor payments
- Partner with leadership on financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting support
- Design, document, and continuously improve accounting processes as the company grows
- Serve as a key accounting resource as complexity increases across multiple projects
What we’re looking for
- 4+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in a professional setting
- CPA, CPA-track, or public accounting background strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Hands-on experience using NetSuite (or similar ERP), with the ability to interpret and validate data
- Comfort owning processes end to end, not just executing tasks
- High attention to detail with the confidence to make judgment calls
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Interest in growing into a senior accounting or Controller-level role over time
Location Requirement
This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in Pittsburgh, PA.
