Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Part-Time Bookkeeper for a mission-driven nonprofit organization supporting Indigenous cultural preservation and environmental stewardship. This is a hybrid-remote opportunity based in Portland, Oregon, with approximately 90% remote work and occasional on-site needs in Northeast Portland.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Part-Time Bookkeeper will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s financial health and operational growth during an exciting period of expansion. This position partners closely with the Executive Director to manage day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, and reporting functions. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, comfort working independently, and enthusiasm for supporting a close-knit nonprofit team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks, including reconciliations and general ledger management
- Process payroll and support payroll-related reporting using Gusto or similar systems
- Track receipts, expenses, and cash flow to support budgeting and grant activity
- Prepare routine financial reports for leadership and board review
- Support compliance documentation related to audits, insurance, and state reporting
- Collaborate with leadership to improve financial organization and internal processes
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency using QuickBooks for bookkeeping and reconciliations
- Payroll processing experience; familiarity with Gusto strongly preferred
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential financial information
