The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key member of Backlight’s Strategic Finance and FP&A team, owning core financial models, forecasts, and performance analysis across the business. This role partners closely with senior leadership to deliver insight on revenue, retention, and profitability in a fast-paced, PE-backed SaaS environment.
YOU WILL
- Own and continuously enhance financial operating models supporting annual planning, budgeting, and rolling forecasts.
- Lead monthly performance analysis, including volume, mix, and rate variance analysis across revenue, bookings, and cost drivers.
- Prepare and review monthly management and board reporting, with deep analysis of bookings, ARR/MRR, and core SaaS metrics.
- Own revenue and retention modeling, including churn, expansion, GRR, NRR, and cohort-based analysis.
- Partner with FP&A leadership and cross-functional stakeholders during annual planning and in-year reforecasting cycles.
- Provide advanced financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives and growth investments.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and enhancements to data quality and scalability.
- Work with large, multi-source datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of reporting and forecasts.
- Support and review work produced by junior analysts, providing guidance on modeling and analytical best practices (as applicable).
What You Need To Embark
- 5+ years of experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, or a similar analytical finance role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience building and owning complex financial models.
- Experience working with large datasets and translating data into clear, executive-ready insights.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior stakeholders.
