Overview
We are seeking a motivated Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in HVAC systems, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical maintenance. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess a strong work ethic, and have a foundational interest in building systems and property maintenance. Prior experience in construction, service technician roles, or appliance repair is a plus. A valid driver’s license is required for travel to job sites. This paid apprenticeship provides valuable industry exposure and skill development under the guidance of experienced technicians.
Duties
- Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment
- Read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams for system troubleshooting and assembly
- Support service technicians with system diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and other electrical testing devices
- Perform routine inspections of HVAC equipment to identify issues related to mechanical failure or inefficiency
- Aid in plumbing tasks associated with HVAC systems, including pipe fitting and refrigerant line connections
- Participate in equipment repair activities such as welding or component replacement
- Contribute to property maintenance tasks related to HVAC and mechanical systems
- Follow safety protocols during field service operations involving ammonia refrigeration or other hazardous materials
- Assist with the use of HVAC design principles for system upgrades or new installations
- Support team members in maintaining a clean and organized work environment
Skills
- Basic understanding of construction principles and mechanical systems
- Experience or familiarity with service technician roles, appliance repair, or property maintenance is advantageous
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams related to HVAC/R systems
- Knowledge of HVAC design concepts and refrigeration processes including ammonia refrigeration systems
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair, welding, boiler operation, and general maintenance
- Field service experience preferred; ability to work independently or as part of a team on-site
- Proficiency with electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Valid driver’s license required for travel between job sites
