Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Auto Repair Shop Manager to oversee daily operations at our automotive service center. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of automotive repair processes. This role involves managing staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining inventory, and driving the overall success of the shop. The manager will also be responsible for administrative tasks such as bookkeeping, payroll, and budgeting to ensure smooth business operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise technicians and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service
- Manage daily shop operations, including scheduling appointments and overseeing repair processes
- Maintain excellent customer service standards by addressing client inquiries and resolving issues promptly
- Oversee inventory management, including parts ordering, stock control, and purchasing decisions
- Handle administrative duties such as bookkeeping, payroll processing, and financial record keeping
- Implement marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing clients
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
- Train new employees and facilitate ongoing staff development through coaching and performance evaluations
- Manage POS systems, cash handling, and retail sales activities within the shop
- Coordinate with vendors for parts procurement and manage pricing strategies for services offered
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and performance expectations
Requirements
- Proven management experience in an auto repair shop or related automotive environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and customer service excellence
- Proficiency in inventory management, bookkeeping, payroll, and retail math
- Experience with POS systems, purchasing, pricing strategies, and sales management
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Knowledge of automotive repair processes combined with supervisory experience in a retail or service setting
- Strong negotiation skills for vendor relations and customer interactions
- Effective time management skills to prioritize daily tasks effectively
- Administrative experience including budgeting, marketing, training & development, merchandising, stocking, wireless sales (if applicable), store management, shift management, and overall retail management is desirable
