Modoc Tribal Enterprise Authority is seeking a dynamic, proactive, and self-starting Controller to join our team. The Controller will report to the Chairman of the Modoc Tribal Enterprises Authority Board.
Responsibilities
- Leads and oversees the organization’s accounting operations and strategy.
- Responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the effectiveness of financial controls.
- Establishes and maintains accounting policies, systems, and procedures to support the company’s financial health and strategic goals.
- As a key advisor to top management, the MTE Controller presents financial findings and provides recommendations to influence organizational decision-making.
- Lead the accounting department and oversee all aspects of the organization’s accounting functions.
- Develop and implement accounting systems, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient financial operations and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles [GAAP] and other regulatory standards.
- Direct the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, and filings required by regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align financial strategy with broader business goals.
- Provide strategic insights and financial recommendations based on data analysis to support executive decision-making.
- Ensure the timely and accurate closing of financial periods and reporting cycles
- Manage internal controls and audits to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
- Approve policies and procedures developed within various accounting sub-functions
- Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards and communicate implications to leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, with significant managerial experience.
- Extensive experience managing accounting operations in a complex, multi-functional organization.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check prior to employment
