Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper / Finance Manager to oversee all financial operations of our company. This is not a basic bookkeeping role; our ideal candidate has deep accounting knowledge, a strong conceptual understanding of financial systems, and experience with complex transactions, including stock issuances and consolidations. You will manage the company’s books, ensure accurate reporting, and provide insights that support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries
- Process invoices, receipts, and expense reports
- Manage payroll and employee reimbursements
- Reconcile monthly statements and ensure financial accuracy
- General Ledger & Trial Balances: Should be able to manage the full set of books, track all account activity, and ensure the trial balance always matches. Must be able to spot and fix discrepancies.
- Consolidating Books: Must know how to combine financial records from multiple entities or departments into one complete picture.
- Stock Issuances & Equity Accounting: Should understand how issuing stock affects company equity, how to record it properly, and how it flows through the balance sheet.
- Conceptual Understanding of Accounting: Not just transactional; must understand why things are done a certain way and be able to explain the logic behind journal entries, adjustments, and reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting Accuracy: Must ensure that all reports, balances, and statements are correct and can withstand scrutiny from management, auditors, or investors.
- Support other administrative or operational tasks as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a senior bookkeeper, accountant, or finance manager
- Deep understanding of dual-sided accounting (debits and credits) and how every transaction impacts the general ledger
- Expertise in trial balances, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with consolidating books for multiple entities or departments
- Knowledge of equity accounting and how stock issuances affect financial statements
- Strong conceptual understanding of accounting principles, not just transactional knowledge
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software
- Strong communication skills to explain complex accounting concepts in plain language
- High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
- Familiarity with Google Suite (Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Drive)
- Fluency with Mac operating systems
Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, Certified Bookkeeper) are a plus
Compensation: $100k-$150k
