Field Mechanic- Foreman
Job Summary:
This position reports directly to the Project Manager. Helps plan, schedule, direct and perform mechanical maintenance activities to assure safety, efficiency and reliability. Job requires extended periods away from home (at least 75% of the time).
Supervisory Responsibility:
Directly supervises employees in Mechanical Technologies. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for setting daily priorities; giving work assignments. Enter daily timesheets & respond to emails
- Acts as a contact with customers & communicate effectively.
- Prepares both written & electronic reports during and after completion of field assignment.
- Coordinates with Project Manager on technical matters, budget recommendations, manpower requirements, etc.
- Provides input for performance evaluations.
- Is responsible for proper completion of projects and for the safety of all team members.
- May have multiple projects under way, and multiple teams involved, at any particular time.
- Performs hands-on maintenance/overhauls on assigned task.
- Trains subordinates in the proper use of all hand, technical tools, and equipment.
- Trains subordinates in proper use of safety equipment and safe operating procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to navigate computers to enter electronic time sheets, overhaul reports & communicate via email.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Basic algebra & geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be able to comprehend & pass various safety training modules. Clean driving record & being able to obtain DOT medical card for driving non-CDL company vehicles is preferred.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Independent Action:
Duties are performed independently. Recommends, designs and implements controls and process improvements/efficiencies based on department objectives. Consults with supervisor regarding major policy decisions.
