Strategic Bookeeper (1099 Contractor - Local Hybrid)
Twin Cities, MN & Hudson, WI Area | Part-Time to Start | High-Level Client-Facing Role
TruePath Solutions is growing and we’re looking for an experienced, detail-driven Strategic Bookkeeper to join our team as a 1099 contractor.
This is not a basic remote bookkeeping role, this position requires controller-level skill, on-site client interaction, and the ability to walk into a business, assess its financial systems, and confidently take ownership of the books.

Local Hybrid (Not Fully remote)
Most work is done remotely, but this role may require regular onsite visits with clients across the Twin Cities, MN and Hudson, WI areas for:
- Onboarding
- Workflow and SOP reviews
- Financial check-ins
- AR/AP or payroll process observations
- Monthly or quarterly onsite visits as needed
Local availability is required.
What You Will Do
(Full charge + controller-level responsibilities)
- Manage day-to-day financial operations for multiple SMB clients
- Full-charge bookkeeping: AR/AP, payroll, reconciliations, amortization schedules, journal entries, tax payments, month-end close
- Maintain accurate financial statements and clean, reliable books
- Identify gaps, recommend improvements, and support SOP development
- Handle complex B2B transactions, multi-entity reconciliations, and inventory-related accounting (when applicable)
- Collaborate closely with TruePath team members, clients, CPAs, and operational leaders
- Support clean-ups, catch-ups, and system reorganizations during onboarding
- Provide financial reporting support and prep information for controller/CFO-level review
- Protect confidentiality and maintain a polished, professional client-facing presence
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of B2B full-cycle bookkeeping & accounting experience
- Controller-level experience strongly preferred
- Advanced QuickBooks Online expertise (required)
- Experience with platforms such as Bill.com, Gusto, ADP, Xero, Expensify, Divvy or other AP/AR, payroll, and spend management systems is a strong plus
- QuickBooks certification a plus
- Strong knowledge of financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end processes
- Experience with payroll, sales tax, payroll tax, and state tax payments
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Able to work independently, manage multiple clients, and solve problems proactively
- Experience with inventory, manufacturing, or nonprofit bookkeeping (preferred but not required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance a plus
- Reliable computer, strong WiFi, and webcam
- Must be local to Twin Cities / Hudson WI and willing to work on-site + remote
