Licensed with the NFL, NCAA, MLS and MLBPA - Strideline socks are available through major retailers such as Costco, Sam's Club, Fanatics, Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, Kroger and many other national retailers totaling over 10,000 doors across the country.
Position Overview: This role will be the leader of Strideline’s accounting department and a key member of the Strideline Executive Team responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities. This position will work closely with the Co-founders and leadership team to lead all day-to-day accounting operations. The Controller will ensure that the company has the systems and procedures in place to support effective business functions and conduct flawless external reporting. This includes the production of monthly financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with established accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Success in this role will require tight financial controls and a deep understanding of the companies omni-channel distribution strategy including brick-and-mortar retail, DTC, and private label. To be effective in the role, the Controller must develop a clear understanding of the company's objectives and foster a spirit of partnership between the finance/accounting department, supply chain, key functional leaders, customer service, sales, and distribution operations. Above all, the Controller will be responsible for defining, developing and implementing strong accounting processes and managing a world class accounting team.
This role reports to the Co-CEOs Jake Director and Riley Goodman, with full accountability for all day-to-day accounting functions which allow the CEOs to focus on strategic sales growth and long-term vision for the company.
Desired Qualifications: The controller candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in CPG companies working with QBO, inventory, COGS, DTC and brick-and-mortar retailers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage current accounting team and bookkeeper processes (hands-on), A/R, A/P, payroll.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledgers monthly - Closing out monthly financials (for all companies).
- Maintain fixed asset records and filings.
- Reconcile all bank accounts.
- Track, report and ensure remittance of royalty payments.
- Identify, hire and manage staff as needed.
- Provide appropriate reporting to funding sources.
- Work with Sales team at improving systems and processes to increase efficiency
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
- Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the company’s financial status;
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.
Your background should include and/or exhibit:
- Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
- Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation.
- Flexibility to own special projects and duties as they arise.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners.
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
