Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance, with experience working on various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, cranes, and farm machinery. This role requires a solid understanding of automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work with hand tools and power tools effectively. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our fleet and equipment through thorough inspections, repairs, and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and related components.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics.
- Conduct repairs on heavy equipment including transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC systems.
- Operate forklifts and other heavy machinery as needed for repairs.
- Fabricate parts or components when necessary to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Execute brake repair, alignment adjustments, shocks & struts replacement, and tire service.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on vehicles and equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their equipment needs.
- Collaborate with other mechanics or service technicians to complete complex repairs efficiently.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role within the automotive or heavy equipment industry.
- Dealership experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical systems in vehicles is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects as part of routine maintenance tasks.
- Experience working with farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, and other heavy vehicles is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques is an advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
