About the job
We’re looking for a highly motivated communications professional with 3+ years of experience and an entrepreneurial mindset who thrives in a fast-moving environment and has a love for building and nurturing media relationships and the practice of public relations. This person will play a key role in helping our clients, primarily in B2B tech, shape narratives and earn high-impact coverage.
What we expect of you
Must-have qualifications:
- 3+ years of PR/communications experience – ideally in an agency or fast-paced consultancy environment.
- Strong passion for media relations – actively pitching, placing, and nurturing relationships with journalists.
- Proven track record of earned media placements – in top-tier business, tech, and trade outlets (e.g., TechCrunch, WSJ, Forbes, VentureBeat).
- Experience in B2B tech and/or emerging consumer tech – knows how to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling stories.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills – from pitches and bylines to briefing docs and messaging.
- Research and planning chops – to conduct competitive analysis and market research to inform communications positioning and measure and report on PR campaign effectiveness using relevant KPIs and analytics tools.
- Content creation & storytelling skills –produce multimedia content including video scripts, podcast talking points, and presentation materials.
- Media intelligence analysis acumen – monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing regular analysis and recommendations.
Must-Have attributes:
- Self-starter mentality – able to work independently, own projects, and proactively problem-solve without heavy oversight.
- Entrepreneurial and adaptable – thrives in a small, high-trust team with shifting priorities and big ambitions.
- Enjoys working with senior consultants – eager to learn from senior level team and understands how to communicate up and manage across.
- Collaborative but assertive – can drive ideas forward with energy and clarity, while working well in teams.
Nice-to-Haves (but strongly preferred):
- Existing media relationships – especially with business and tech journalists (e.g., editors at Axios, Fortune, The Information).
- Experience with thought leadership development – crafting POVs, ghostwriting, and helping clients own an issue.
- Social media savvy – experience with social media management and digital analytics tools.
- Crisis or issues management experience – bonus if you’ve helped manage fast-moving or sensitive situations.
- Experience working remotely or in hybrid teams – comfortable with tools like Teams, Slack, Google Docs, etc.
- San Francisco Bay Area-based – but we’re open to other locations for the right candidate.
