Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Vice President of Sales to lead the development, execution and coordination of all sales strategies, initiatives and policies for our Surfaces Solutions division. This division offers the broadest range of exterior cladding solutions designed to work together to create custom curb appeal.
Our portfolio of siding, metal, trim & accent options are manufactured in North America and provide exterior contractors a seamless and integrated solution, delivered by an unbeatable team.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development, execution and coordination of all sales strategies, initiatives and policies for assigned brand and channel. Develops, services, and retains national customer base of customer (distributor/lumberyard or as applicable) accounts to meet the objective of managing the price volume equation and thereby delivering on annual sales and margin budgets (brand, product and channel P&L responsibility). Responsible for managing, developing, and nurturing customer relationships and programs. Responsible for the human capital development of the assigned sales team.
- Maintains adequate care and supervision of employees in the department to ensure maximum utilization of human resources in accomplishing departmental and company goals. Evaluates, motivates and disciplines subordinate personnel as appropriate in accordance with company policy and procedures
- Directs, coordinates and manages the performance of National, Regional and Territory Sales planning and performance of the sales force
- Provides maximum service to current distributor base through effective communication of sales programs, quick resolution of customer issues, and training of representatives to generate maximum sales. Includes key account relationship management
- Develops new distributor and/or lumberyard accounts by identifying and establishing new customer bases, disseminating product information (including quality control, warranty, and credit policy/procedure), building rapport with customer representatives through telephone communication and field sales calls, and assisting distributors with the design of sales programs/presentations to ensure optimum sales and profits from all areas
- Monitor and analyze program performance (i.e. National Builder Program, rebate and growth incentive program)
- Support of marketing initiatives including the coordination of company participation and representation in product/industry trade shows to maximize marketing of product and accessory lines
- Participates in strategic planning and provides leadership and guidance in carrying out Action Plans relative to accomplishment of corporate goals and objectives
- Establishes annual, monthly and quarterly sales projections and recommends programs to ensure level sales volume (within practical limits)
- Develops the formulation of annual departmental budgets, including forecasts for capital equipment, manpower requirements, etc., and provides appropriate cost/payback justification for recommended alterations/expenditures
- Maintains departmental expenses within budgetary guidelines; analyzes performance and ensures cost effectiveness in all areas
- Formulates offers and implements ideas concerning terms of sale (discounts) allowances, commissions, etc. (with respect to distributor versus competitive conditions) within a framework supporting continual profit and efficiency improvement
- Creates, develops and implements sales plans and presentations for training purposes including updates to product changes, latest selling strategies, competitive surveillance methods, expenses control, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or comparable discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required: MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of territory and regional sales management experience along with a thorough understanding of all distribution channels. Significant experience with wholesale one-step national distribution platforms required.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills required. Strong analytical abilities, presentation and negotiation skills required. Experience in the building products industry preferred.
- Position requires heavy travel (50%+)
