About
I have been a medical assistant for nearly 16 years. My first role as an MA was in a small private practice as the sole MA for two physicians. We saw approximately 60 patients a day. Most of our patients were seen for management of chronic disease, such as diabetes and coronary artery disease. I educated patients on home care for their chronic disease as well as home medications. After about 6 years, I wanted to expand my skills and experience. I went to work for a very fast paced urgent care clinic. I eventually be came Lead MA during my shifts which placed me in charge of all in office testing as well as medication administration. I frequently triaged patients as well as assisted physicians with in office procedures. I was also a new hire trainer, training incoming RN's, LPN's and MA's. I was asked to head up the medication safety team where I developed new safety protocols for medication administration. I taught all clinical office staff the new protocols as well as other office procedures. During my time at the urgent care, I was also lead MA on the de-escalation team. I retired approximately 4 years ago, as a family member required care taking. I believe that now is the right time for me to return to work and that remote work will provide excellent work/life balance.
