Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Desktop Support Specialist to join our remote team. This role is vital to the maintenance and enhancement of our IT infrastructure, ensuring that our employees receive exceptional technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop hardware, software, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Set up and configure new workstations, applications, upgrades, and patches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Collaborate with the IT Service Desk and Engineering teams to address technical challenges, implement innovations, and increase operational efficiency.
- Respond promptly to helpdesk tickets, providing both on-site and remote assistance to end users.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of technical issues, resolutions, and procedures within the helpdesk system.
- Offer technical support, assistance, and training to IT staff.
- Plan, test, and execute system and software upgrades.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing, documenting outcomes and recommendations.
- Address audit findings while ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Actively contribute as a member of the Incident Management Team during critical incidents.
- Engage in a rotational 24⁄7 on-call support schedule.
- Attend training sessions to broaden knowledge of IT systems and compliance practices.
Required Skills
- 3-5 years of experience with Microsoft Windows 10⁄11, including imaging, deployment, and patching.
- Proficiency in Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft 365, GPO, DNS/DHCP.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes such as Change Management and Problem Management.
- Understanding of networking principles and remote support tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and customer service capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional travel.
Qualifications
- An Associate's degree in computer science or a related field, or a combination of relevant experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft) are preferred.
