About The Role
As our Senior Accountant, you'll be responsible for bringing our accounting functions in-house and establishing robust financial processes. This is a unique opportunity to shape the financial foundation of a fast-growing tech startup. As an early-stage hire, you'll have the chance to grow with the company and help build out a finance team as we scale. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in QBO, Gusto, and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including familiarity of the technical issues of an MGA company.
Responsibilities
- Manage all general accounting functions, including invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Prepare financial statements and reports for management and stakeholders
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Collaborate with management to provide financial insights and support decision-making
- Lead the selection and implementation of accounting software and systems
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred with 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role
- Insurance Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of the insurance industry, particularly commercial lines
- Proven experience in accounting and bookkeeping roles
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (Quickbooks, Gusto) and Spreadsheets (Excel)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation: CompScience is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary range for this role is $85,000 – $100,000. Compensation is determined within the range based on your qualifications and experience. Our total compensation package also includes equity and comprehensive benefits.
