Position Overview
The Controller is a key leader for the Finance organization, overseeing accounting operations for all operating units of The Harbor Health Inc. This role is accountable for preparing monthly financial statements, supporting the Financial Planning team in establishing annual targets and forecasts, coordinating activities for external audits, preparing external reporting as required for investors and other external parties and managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial data necessary for timely and accurate internal financial reporting and external regulatory reporting. Additionally, the Controller has direct oversight responsibility for Treasury, Accounts Payable, and Statutory & Tax reporting functions. The Controller ensures timely and accurate data is available to support the business leaders making critical operating decisions and will work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders in support of the objectives of the business.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
Our Controller will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the monthly financial close process ensuring timeliness and accuracy of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory accounting results
- Developing plans to further automate financial systems and processes, including, but not limited to, financial reporting, tax compliance, and management reporting
- Overseeing and maintaining annual audit and tax compliance efforts as well as developing long-term trusted relationships with external auditors, tax consultants and financial advisors
- Developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, internal controls and tools to comply with U.S. GAAP and statutory financial reporting as appropriate
- Documenting and explaining the impact of new technical accounting and tax guidance, supported by external experts as needed
- Overseeing Treasury and cash management function, and accurately managing the operating cash needs of the organization
- Providing guidance, training and managing the performance of direct reports
Desired Professional Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 10 years of progressive work experience in accounting, with 2+ years in a Corporate Controller role
- Statutory accounting experience
- Demonstrated ability to work with Senior Leadership teams across all aspects of an organization
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Previous NetSuite experience a plus
- This is remote role
