We are seeking an energetic, mission-driven Associate to join our impact investing advisory team who will also be supporting other areas of our work as needed. While our leadership team consists of seasoned executives who have worked at some of the most notable firms on Wall Street and philanthropy, our culture is highly entrepreneurial and collaborative. The position is initially a contract role with the potential to convert to full-time.
Job Description:
This Associate will collaborate with senior colleagues across the entire KindCap family on multiple projects. You must be proficient in financial modeling (strong preference for candidates who have successfully completed a Wall Street Investment Banking Analyst/Associate program), proactive, hungry to learn, and can work independently with little structure. We care less about where you’ve worked or what school you’ve graduated from, but more about who you are as a person, what you’ve done and what you can do going forward with Kind Capital as you grow with us.
Key Responsibilities:
The Associate’s primary duties are summarized as follows:
- Support senior team members in sourcing, screening opportunities, and conducting due diligence.
- Draft presentations and investment memos, monitor investments, and offer inputs and insights that drive KindCap’s mission.
- Support social media strategy for KindCap’s various entities
- Project management as back-up point of contact for senior members and external partners
- Research and data gathering for various initiatives in our pipeline
- Embrace team-based decision-making
- Help build KindCap’s already expansive network for sourcing deals
- Develop in-depth understanding of underlying companies/assets and sectors associated with potential investment opportunities; develop themes for impact investing
- Work collaboratively with other members across various KindCap affiliates
- Work effectively with counterparts at clients and investees throughout an investment lifecycle
- As required, represent KindCap to existing and prospective clients, investors, and other stakeholders at meetings and conferences
- Demonstrate dedication to the company and colleagues’ success and contribute to the group
Experience & Skills:
- Required
- Proficient financial modeling – ability to build integrated financial models with sensitivity/scenario analyses. Excel gurus a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Sense of humor
- 2 to 7 years of professional experience
- Results-driven and highly detailed-oriented
- Experience writing pitch decks and investment memos
- Team-oriented. Enthusiasm and commitment to working in a friendly, entrepreneurial team environment
- Self-starter and entrepreneurial mindset to get things done; can-do attitude to get things done, no task too low, no job too small.
- Robust analytical skills and experience determining risks in a portfolio or company
- Strong presentation as well as strong oral/written communication skills
- Demonstrated track record of working independently without significant oversight
- Driven and have a strong sense of purpose
- Strong preference for candidates who have completed a two-year investment banking analyst/associate program
- Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses are helpful and desirable, but not required. Willingness to pursue if required for full-time employment.
- Understanding of deal processes
- Strong ability to build external partnerships
- Demonstrated ability to support client relationships, fiduciary mindset
- Multilingual is helpful but not required
