Service Technician – Dealer Services
Department: Dealer Services / Technical Operations
Reports To: Service Manager or Director of Dealer Services
Position Summary
The Service Technician – Dealer Services is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of shop equipment used in automotive dealerships, collision centers, and service facilities. This role supports customers by ensuring equipment is installed correctly, operating safely, and performing efficiently. The technician may also assist with shop layout planning, equipment setup, and training customers on proper equipment use.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Installation & Setup
- Install automotive service and collision repair equipment including lifts, air systems, compressors, frame machines, and related shop equipment.
- Assist with layout planning and placement of equipment within dealerships and collision centers.
- Ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic equipment issues.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative service on equipment.
- Repair or replace faulty components to restore proper operation.
Technical Support & Consultation
- Work with sales teams and customers to ensure proper equipment selection and placement.
- Provide technical guidance during shop design and installation projects.
- Educate customers on equipment operation, maintenance, and safety practices.
Field Service
- Travel to customer locations to perform service calls and installations.
- Maintain service records and documentation for all work performed.
- Ensure service vehicles, tools, and parts inventory are organized and maintained.
Customer Service
- Communicate professionally with dealership personnel, collision center managers, and technicians.
- Provide timely updates regarding service status and repairs.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in equipment installation, mechanical service, or automotive shop equipment repair preferred.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, technical drawings, and shop layout plans.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Work Environment
This position requires frequent travel to dealerships, collision centers, and service facilities. Work may involve exposure to shop environments, equipment noise, and varying weather conditions when traveling between sites.
Pay: $23.14 - $27.86 per hour
