Introduction
Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Credentialing Coordinator position. This position is a contract opportunity which is expected to be Remote for a duration of 3 Months.
The Credentialing Coordinator serves as the receptionist and telephone operator for the Medical Staff office/building.
- Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
- Serves as the first point of contact for potential new medical staff members modeling our services standard in all interactions.
- Supports the department with various clerical and credentialing processes to assist with the initial and reappointment processes for Physicians and Allied Health Professionals.
Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities:
- Performs administrative functions of the front desk to include; screening and referring phone calls, directing visitors, receiving and distribution of all mail; management of department equipment to include fax and copy machines.
- Maintains adequate department supplies/inventory, ordering as appropriate.
- Maintains the process of receiving the Initial/Reappointment application payments via Inter-Department Transfer (IDT) and Checks), to include management of the deposit/journal.
- Handling of hospital affiliation verifications requests
- Pre-Screens potential new applicants to prepare and send the electronic application.
- Assigns applications to the Credentialing Team
- Assists Medical Staff members and Allied Health Professionals when requesting a change (i.e. Additional Privilege Request, Change of Category, Change of Campus, Additional Sponsors) and sends out appropriate change form and documents on respective working grid.
- Assist the credentialing team with primary source verifications as needed.
- Able to navigate MSOW in order to answer questions, run simple queries and perform database clean-up.
- Process Physician changes requests for Change of Status and Primary Campus.
- Process Allied Health Professional change request for Additional Sponsors only.
- Responsible for producing copies of Committee meeting packets for Allied Health Review Panel, Credentials Committee to the Management Team only.
- Assist customers with general inquiries pertaining to credentialing questions
- Perform support functions for the Management Team to include scheduling new Department Chairs or orientation.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Oral and written proficiency with the English language
- Ability to communicate professionally and clearly
- Ability to work with people of various backgrounds and professional levels
- Computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work under stress and deadlines
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Associate's degree in secretarial sciences, business or related field
- Experience in a medical staff services office or hospital environment
- Experience with credentialing software
Licensure, Certification or Registration Preferred:
- Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
