Position Summary: Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will work broadly across the organization, with both internal and external partners, to ensure reliable, effective and efficient financial operations that can effectively scale in a high-growth environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, operates with a sense of urgency, and thrives in high-growth environments where new ways of doing business - whether via new technologies or improved processes - are continuously explored and implemented.
Job Duties:
- Own the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, company policy, and federal and state regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, operations, business development, technology, and executive leadership to align financial objectives with overall business goals
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Collaborate and manage relationship with our outsourced financial accounting partner, ensuring seamless communication, coordination, and execution of day-to-day work streams, monthly and annual closing processes, and financial reporting activities
- Manage the company’s accounting systems and processes with a focus on optimizing efficiency through technology and process improvement
- Support our CFO, senior management, and business leaders in analyzing and understanding operating results, financial trends and other key performance indicators. Provide analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, as well as in-depth revenue and expense analysis to identify micro-level trends, risks and opportunities
- Support preparation of financial information included in board presentations
- Support our treasury operations including daily cash management, short to medium term cash forecasting, and working capital optimization
- Coordinate with our tax accountants to support tax planning, compliance, and timely filing of all tax returns at the federal, state and local level
- Lead the Company through preparation and completion of its first annual audit
- Work closely with our CFO to support the annual budgeting process and help ensure alignment and transparency across the organization
- Perform ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned by senior management.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years’ experience in accounting, financial management, and financial reporting in a manager, director, or controllership role.
- Strong technical expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and internal controls
- Proven experience with cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls and accounting processes
- Proficient in learning accounting software and other software systems
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Excellent communicator and presenter – comfortable communicating financial information to non-financial colleagues
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time
- Must live in the U.S. or U.S. Territories
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification
- Experience in finance and accounting for a technology provider with recurring revenue streams
- Experience working and establishing relationships in a remote-first environment
Salary
The salary range for this job is $135,000 - $165,000 per year.
