WHO WE ARE
The Family Office was founded in 2024 to support three generations of an enterprising and growing family. The executives are based near San Diego (CEO) and Los Angeles (CFO/COO) and meet in-person frequently, though without a set schedule. An affiliated commercial real estate business is based in Charlotte, NC. All employees operate under a hybrid work model that relies heavily on outsourcing to trusted partners. The wealth managed by the Family Office continues to be generated from a dedicated, multigenerational business originally founded in the 1930s in North Carolina. Informed and inspired by the founding generation’s intent to keep the business in the family’s hands and to provide for future generations, we operate with a mindset of continuous creativity and growth in providing a coordinated and integrated approach to wealth management and an array of family office services.
OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking a highly organized, self-motivated, service-oriented professional to support the CFO/COO in the execution of his responsibilities to the Family Office primarily in the areas of investment & treasury management, financial reporting, and management of external relationships. POSITION OVERVIEW
The ideal candidate will possess a foundation in bookkeeping and financial reporting tailored for family offices and individual family members, and a familiarity with investment reporting. The candidate should also share the team’s perspective that no task is too big or too small in its importance. This role is perfect for someone who brings experience while still looking to grow in their professional role. The candidate must reside in southern California and be willing to travel for periodic in-person meetings in San Diego or Los Angeles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The role will work collaboratively with the executives to:
• Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing execution of financial reporting and planning for the family office and individual family members. This includes maintaining accurate financial records and preparing monthly and quarterly management reports. • Prepare and review investment reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of both the source material and the reports. • Aggregate and deliver information to the tax advisor and coordinate efforts related to tax reporting and tax planning. • Execute treasury related instructions across the family office. • Maintain the limited bookkeeping and bill-pay requirements of the Family Office entity. • Support the risk management initiatives of the family office and family members when necessary. • Coordinate periodic meetings with other family members and prepare materials for semi-annual reviews with the other family owners. • Support delivery of next-gen education to the rising generation of the family. • Coordinate with advisors for execution at the highest level on behalf of the family office and family. • Coordinate schedules, as necessary.
SKILL SET AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Familiarity with accounting, bookkeeping, and reporting for financial assets. Familiarity with the same for real estate is a plus. • Familiarity with financial planning and investment reporting for family offices. • Familiarity with treasury functions in coordinating the secure transfer of funds across multiple banks, brokerage, and investment partners. • Meaningful experience in business management, family office, or related fields. • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft products (especially Excel), Addepar, and Quickbooks. Experience with Yardi a plus. • A demonstrated interest in a career as a family office professional. • Bachelor’s degree and 3 – 5 years of relevant experience.
