Montara Ventures & LOR Planning
Montara Ventures — a Bay Area–based real estate development and investment firm — and LOR Planning — a real estate planning firm — are seeking a part-time contract Accountant / Bookkeeper to support ongoing accounting across our businesses and family office.
This flexible contract engagement may be performed by an independent contractor (1099) or a small accounting/bookkeeping firm. The role is ideal for someone experienced in QuickBooks Online, real estate accounting, and small business bookkeeping who enjoys working independently while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
What You’ll Do- Manage bookkeeping across multiple entities, including ~50–100 transactions per month.
- Handle accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and related processing (approx. 3–10 outgoing invoices and 3–5 check payments monthly).
- Prepare and review monthly P&L statements (cash and tax basis).
- Maintain organized QuickBooks Online files for each entity.
- Conduct monthly review meetings with ownership to confirm account coding, receipts, and approvals.
- Coordinate with tax advisors on annual filings, including year-end reporting with full transaction backup.
- Provide periodic lender reports and other financial statements.
- Partner with ownership/project managers to align invoices with budgets and contracts.
- Support payroll (via Gusto) for LOR Planning’s Principal and one employee.
- Support 401k filings for both Montara Ventures and LOR Planning.
- Manage accounting for:
- Montara Ventures (real estate development & investment projects)
- LOR Planning (real estate planning S-corp)
- Family office accounts (rental properties, investments, charitable contributions, office use of home)
- Future real estate ventures with 10–20 outside investors
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA license is a plus, but not required.
- Experience with California accounting, reporting, and tax compliance required.
- Proven experience managing accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R).
- 3+ years bookkeeping/accounting experience (real estate, construction, or investment management preferred).
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel.
- Knowledge of S-corp accounting, small business bookkeeping, and rental property reporting.
- Detail-oriented, consistent, and accurate.
- Able to manage multiple entities and provide clear, actionable financial visibility.
- Strong communicator who thrives in a remote, contract-based role.
Contract Details- Engagement: Independent contractor (1099) or bookkeeping/accounting firm.
- Not a W-2 employee role and does not include benefits.
- Schedule: Part-time, flexible.
- Location: Remote (MUST be experienced with California-based businesses).
- Compensation: $800-$1200/month for bookkeeping-level engagement.
