Job Summary
The Fleet Maintenance Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of our fleet. This position involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of various vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks, excavators, and farm machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality service.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair activities for fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Perform diagnostics on automotive systems, including transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, and HVAC systems.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment such as cranes, excavators, and tractor-trailers.
- Utilize schematics to troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs performed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance operations.
- Collaborate with service technicians to address customer service inquiries related to vehicle performance.
- Conduct inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues before they become serious problems.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs as needed.
- Assist in training new mechanics or service technicians on best practices in vehicle maintenance.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive repair and diagnostics.
- Familiarity with dealership operations is a plus.
- Proficient in the operation of heavy equipment including forklifts, excavators, and cranes.
- Understanding of vehicle systems such as suspension, shocks & struts, brake systems, and diesel engine repair.
- Experience with fabrication techniques and assembly processes.
- Ability to read schematics for electrical troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on customer service.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting as required for equipment maintenance.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs.
