Responsibilities
- Implementing audio-visual systems tailored to client needs
- • Performing installation and setup of AV equipment such as projectors, sound systems, and video conferencing tools
- • Conducting troubleshooting of AV systems
- • Configuring and calibrating AV equipment to ensure optimal performance
- • Providing technical support and training for users on AV system operation
- • Collaborating with network engineers to integrate AV systems into network infrastructure
- • Managing and documenting inventory of equipment and accessories
- • Staying up-to-date with the latest AV technologies and industry trends
- • Understanding detailed system installation diagrams and technical drawings/documentation
- • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
Duties
Testing, Calibration, and Analysis
- Experienced in acoustic analysis including STC, RT60, and ambient noise measurements
- Skilled in calibrating DSPs, equalizers, speaker arrays, and microphones for audio clarity
- Capable of testing and adjusting lighting systems for coverage, uniformity, and DALI/DMX protocols
- Proficient in evaluating AV scenarios to optimize performance and user experience
Cabling and Installation Mastery
- Advanced knowledge of structured cabling for:
- Network/Data (Cat6, Cat6a, Fibre)
- Video (HDMI, SDI, DisplayPort, HDBaseT)
- Audio (Analog, AES/EBU, Dante, XLR)
- Electrical (Low-voltage and AV power circuits)
- Skilled in compliant cable routing, containment installation, and patching
- Adheres to BS 7671 and UK standards for safe and high-quality wiring practices
Systems Integration and Commissioning
- Experienced in configuring and integrating AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, QSC, etc.)
- Able to install and commission conferencing systems, projectors, displays, and audio processors
- Conducts rigorous system testing, diagnostics, and performance verification
- Delivers comprehensive handovers including documentation, client training, and snag resolution
AV Application Knowledge
- Expert in AV-over-IP deployments (e.g., Dante, NDI, SDVoE)
- Familiar with AV software platforms and remote monitoring tools
- Skilled in interfacing AV systems with building automation and IT networks
Qualifications & Skills
- • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
- • Certifications such as CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist - Design), Audiovisual Network Professional® Certification
- • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other design software for system layout
- • Expertise in networking and IP-based AV solutions
- • Strong understanding of acoustics and sound system design
- • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- • Willingness to stay current with evolving AV technologies
- • Proven experience as an AV Engineer or similar related role.
- • In-depth knowledge of AV systems and components
- • Hands-on experience with installation and configuration of AV equipment
- • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
- • Comfortable working with cabling, wiring, and electrical systems
- • Ability to lift and carry heavy AV equipment as required
- • Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- • Flexibility to travel to different sites for installations and support
- • Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to AV installations
- • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
