Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper with at least 5 years of experience. This is a part-time position (generally between 15-20 hours per week), and the individual will work remotely. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records including entering banking transactions and credit card activity, tying out liabilities, recording depreciation and payroll gross-up entries along with monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card statements. The role requires the knowledge to prepare year-end journal entries and adjustments. The Bookkeeper must be proficient in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online to track financial transactions, generate reports, and ensure compliance with tax regulations. The Bookkeeper will also assist in preparing financial statements and supporting tax preparation efforts. The individual should be capable of handling day-to-day accounting tasks with accuracy and efficiency. The role will involve preparing NY and NJ sales tax returns as well as preparing 1099s. From time to time (mostly during tax season), the individual may need to assist in tax preparation.
The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position but will be between $30-$35 per hour.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of five years of bookkeeping experience with a deep understanding of accounting practices and principles.
- Proficiency using QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, ProSeries and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to generate financial reports and assist in tax preparation.
- Ability to work remotely.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines and work efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, clear and concise verbal and written communication to interact with various clients.
- Attention to detail, ability to accurately manage information and complete tasks with precision.
- Discretion and confidentiality, maintaining privacy regarding sensitive information.
- Adaptability and flexibility, ability to adjust to changing priorities and demands.
- QuickBooks ProAdvisor is a plus.
