Job Summary:

C.V. Lloyde is hiring for an AV Design Engineer. Design AV system solutions that fulfill the use requirements for our customers in design-build opportunities. Participate in project assessment, design verification, materials take-off, and bid preparation in support of bid-build opportunities. The AV Design Engineer provides final design details, guidance to the CAD team for proper/relevant drawings and then briefs an appropriate project handoff/overview/intentions/etc. to the assigned team project manager.

Key Responsibilities

· When applicable, accompany business development in performing site visits and detailed needs analysis with the customer or for pre-bid evaluation.

· Develop and provide business development with a complete bill of materials (BOM) for all assign project opportunities. This BOM will include components, hardware, materials, custom items, and prefabricated cables to complete the system. An estimated bulk cable and installation hardware cost will also be included. Projects are estimated when quoted and fully engineered upon award.

· Create a preliminary system flow diagram based on the BOM.

· Assist in the development of labor estimations based on site conditions and scope of work.

· Once the project is awarded, AV Design Engineer will approve the rough signal flow diagram and work in coordination with the CAD team to produce submittal and construction documentation.

· Develop a Technical Scope of Work (TSOW) that will be used internally for our field operations teams.

· Reviews the TSOW and BOM with PM for post award processing.

· Coordinates documentation for any changes to the BOM based on site conditions and follow-up conversations with PM.

· Develop preliminary DSP and control system programming. This will include the development of touch screen layouts.

· Provide assistance with technical design, bid/service contract pricing, miscellaneous material and labor estimates for proposals as needed.

· Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate products if requested.

· Assist installers and with technical support as they deploy systems in the field. This will include fielding questions, performing research regarding equipment configuration, remote log-in and configuration of system components, etc.

· Assist the Service Department with technical support issues as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

· CTS (minimum requirement), CTS-D (preferred)

· 3+ years’ experience in AV technical role

· Knowledge of AV and Architectural drawings

· Knowledge of commercial construction project workflow

· Ability to read construction drawings and system wiring diagrams

· Working knowledge of network infrastructure including setting up LAN’s

· Extensive knowledge of Control system applications (Crestron, Extron, QSYS)

· Extensive knowledge of DSP, conferencing systems, audio conferencing best practices

· Proficient in EASE, AutoCad, Vectorworks, and SMAART are a plus

· Proficient in MS Office, MS Excel, and general PC based applications

· Ability to think and work independently and meet necessary deadlines

· Effective interaction with employees, customers, and colleagues

· Problem solving and trouble shooting skills

· Ability to diagnose complex system problems

· Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills

· Ability to effectively interact with field personnel, management, and customers

· After hours and/or travel will be periodically required based on project need.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
